Sedation Dentistry in Fort Wayne
Sometimes half the battle of receiving necessary dental care is seeking help to face our fears. If anxiety over dental treatments is standing between you and scheduling that next appointment, then you should feel relief knowing that there are several ways the dentist can help you relax and remain calm.
At Berger Family Dentistry, Dr. Timothy S. Berger, Dr. Eric J. Berger, and Dr. Jonathan Robison keep your comfort a top priority. Serving the community of Fort Wayne, they offer a full array of sedation services, including IV sedation services provided by Dr. Eric Berger a dental anesthesia fellow through Indiana University School of Medicine GME.
Comfortable and Compassionate Dental Care
At Berger Family Dentistry, we begin gentle care with kindness, patience, and compassion, knowing what a struggle dental visits can be. After consulting with Drs. Berger and Robison, they will present recommendations to you based on your medical history, the type of dental work you may need, and your level of anxiety.
All sedation options are carefully explained, so you are empowered to make an informed decision that is best for you and suits your needs. There are several ways we can help you relax and receive dental care comfortably.
Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas, is inhaled through a mask placed over your nose and mouth. It provides you a sense of euphoria while you remain conscious and responsive during treatment. Shortly after treatment is stopped, the effects of nitrous oxide wear off. This allows you to drive yourself to and from appointments safely.
Oral Sedation are tablets swallowed about an hour before your dental appointment. This medication reduces sensation and leaves you feeling groggy. You are conscious enough to answer questions and respond to those around you, but the effects of the medications are long-lasting and significant enough that you will need to make arrangements for transportation to and from appointments.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation can quickly place you comfortable and safe sleep. Dr. Eric Berger is licensed in general anesthesiology, making this treatment at Berger Family Dentistry safe, convenient, and readily available. We offer a light or moderate sedation using IV delivered medication. Since it may take several hours for the sedation to wear off, it is necessary to plan for transportation with IV Sedation.
